Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) set with cylinder of 0.5l volume
Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of drowning as it failed depth testing and does not meet the requirements of BS EN 250:2014. The maximum depth reached by the apparatus without exceeding the requirements was 5 metres, not the 50m required. If the product is used in depths beyond 5 metres, it may stop operating. Improvements are also required to labelling and marking. The product does not meet the requirements of the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment.
Corrective action
OPSS are requiring the recall of the product from end users. Consumers who own the product are advised to stop using it immediately and contact the distributor for redress.
