Hazard
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as there is inadequate protection against accidental contact with live parts due to the basic insulation of wires being in contact with accessible metal parts. It should only be possible to touch parts separated from live parts by double or reinforced insulation.
The plug's fuse did not meet the requirements of BS 1362 as it had not been supplied with any granular filler which is required to ensure safe operation under fault conditions. As the fuse is a primary safety device, there is also a risk of fire or injury should it fail to operate correctly when required. The instructions were deemed inadequate as they did not contain information to ensure the correct and safe use of the equipment. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
